About This Piece

This painting is included in my collection Storybook (2025). Throughout our life, we tell ourselves who we are, who others are, and these stories inform our decisions and behavior. When we focus on the good, and accept life as it is, we have the power to write new stories and change our life.

The "good" for me is represented in the Small Joys. Florals represent my earliest happy memory. When I was five years old, my grandfather had a rose garden in his front yard. He would invite me and my sisters over to his house to pick out a rose to take home. With every painting, I try to paint the joy we feel more than how things "really" look. It's in these free, brushy strokes that I capture life in the way I love.
