About This Piece

This painting is included in my collection Storybook (2025). Throughout our life, we tell ourselves who we are, who others are, and these stories inform our decisions and behavior. When we focus on the good, and accept life as it is, we have the power to write new stories and change our life.

The "good" for me is represented in the Small Joys. This painting is based on a new friend I met at the Azalea Pride Market. I asked if she would be okay with me painting her- and she said yes! This painting is a cozy reminder of the safety we find in coffee shops. The interior of this painting is based off Azalea Coffee Bar in Columbia, SC.
