June's Letter: You're Not Lost.
Share
When you find joy in wandering, you're never lost. This week, while coming down from the third art market I had this week, I sank into my couch with my kitty Tazo for some much-needed self reflection.
I thought about how no matter how much we try to plan out our life, it's like life has other plans for us. After all, I thought I'd be somewhere else. In the chair at a corporation calling the shots or following them. Building something with people I wanted to believe in me.
Somewhere along the way, my life became one big book titled, "Hey, do you like me? Am I doing it right?"
The moment when life really started to make sense to me is when I just let go of trying to get my life to make sense to others– myself included. One of my favorite sayings is: What's light is right. Sometimes you have to feel in your body, ask your soul: "How does this decision feel?"
Not "What do I think about it?" Not "Will this work?"
"How does it feel?"
And so now I offer you this: find some time this week between you and your journal– Even if your journal is the notes app on your phone, (though your nervous system might prefer pen and paper).
Ask yourself these questions, and journal for half a page.
- What is one thing that drained me this week?
- What is one thing that brightened my day this week?
For the item that drained you, I want you to ask yourself if this is a temporary or recurring thing. Was it just a weird moment with traffic, or were you drained by that same person in your life that doesn't seem to get you?
No need to make any drastic decisions about it if it's recurring. I just want you to notice that it's there.
For the item that brightened your day, ask how you can create more of it.
You deserve a life full of light. Until next time. I hope you always remember the Small Joys.
With love,
Jen Carmiel
